Christmas Eve worship is one of the most beautiful and inspiring times in the life of a congregation and in the ministry of a pastor. The service may be seen as difficult because everyone knows that you are going to say something about Christ’s birth. But the very reason that it might be seen as challenging is the same reason that it is a grand opportunity for fresh, creative, faithful Bible preaching. For within the larger Scriptural theme of the Incarnation many particulars about the birth of Jesus can be and need to be said. The Gospel can go forth powerfully in these times. I am praying right now for pastors and people, and for our nation, that as Christmas descends upon us like a new snow, the pure white Gospel of Jesus Christ may be fresh and new to our minds and hearts.I have included an example of a Christmas Eve Service from 2003 which I led at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. May the Lord glorify Himself and bring joy to you in this time. You may download it from the “Box” widget in the sidebar, or you can follow this: Christmas Eve bulletin.
